Aaron Davey, Ambassador, Australia

Aaron Davey is an Indigenous AFL player taking the football world by storm!  Aaron currently plays for Melbourne Football Club and has previously played for Port Adelaide and Port Melbourne.

Aaron has already had many achievements in his AFL career.  In 2004, he was recognised as the Best First Year Player at the AFL Players Association MVP Awards and he has also previously been awarded the Fothergill Round Medal, as the most promising player in the Victorian Football League.

Aaron is originally from Darwin and has a keen interest in The Fred Hollows Foundation's Indigenous Program in the Northern Territory of Australia.

He became an Ambassador in 2005 and has since visited the Jawoyn communities which The Foundation works with in the Northern Territory.

Aaron is looking forward to helping The Foundation draw attention to the urgent need to address the health and literacy standards of Indigenous Australians.

Indigenous Australians still die more than 20 years earlier than other Australians, often from treatable diseases,” Aaron said. “Low literacy levels also have a direct impact on people's general health and well being.”

These are the issues that are very important to me and it's a great honour to be an Ambassador for The Fred Hollows Foundation. I've been very lucky to be able to achieve my dreams and I hope that all other young Indigenous Australians can do the same.”
