Our vision is for a world where no one is needlessly blind, and Indigenous Australians enjoy the same health and life expectancy as other Australians.
Who we are
We are an international development organisation, focussing on blindness prevention and Australian Indigenous health. We are independent, non-profit, politically unaligned and secular.
Our Inspiration
We carry on the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows (1929-1993). Fred was an eye doctor, a skilled surgeon of international renown, a champion of the right of all people to good health and a strong advocate for social justice.
What we do
We work for a world where no-one is needlessly blind and Indigenous Australians enjoy the same life expectancy as other Australians.
Our Structure
Since the beginning we have been very fortunate to have our Founding Director Gabi Hollows, management team and Board of Directors working tirelessly for us. Also read our latest Annual Report and Strategic Framework.
Our Achievements
In 2009 we performed 195,406 eye operations and treatments - up from 176,472 in 2008. We examined over 1.7 million people, providing essential eye care to some of the world's poorest regions.
Our Partners & Supporters
Many people continue to help keep Fred's dream alive. We are very lucky to have so many sponsors and supporters involved in the work of The Foundation.
