Local partners

The Foundation takes its lead from local partners and people in designing and implementing the Cambodia Program in order to build local ownership and enhance long term program sustainability.

Our partners in Cambodia are:

  • Ministry of Health
  • National Program for Eye Health
  • Provincial Departments of Health and Hospitals in: Kandal, Kampong Chhnang, Prey Veng, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap and Kampong Speu
  • University of Health Sciences of Cambodia
  • Royal Australian and New Zealand College for Ophthalmology
  • Eye Care Foundation, The Netherlands
  • International Centre for Eyecare Education, Australia
  • Krousar Thmey Blind School

Our key implementing partners in Cambodia are the Ministry of Health (MoH) of Cambodia, through the National Program for Eye Health, as well as the provincial departments of health and hospitals in Program locations.

By supporting our partners to implement Cambodia's National Strategic Plan for the Prevention of Blindness (PBL), we ensure that our program work addresses locally-defined priorities and goals, builds local ownership and generates political commitment from high level authorities.

The Foundation's Cambodia program seeks to build the capacity of our partners to reach their potential in maximising the benefits for the people of Cambodia.

The Foundation will continue to raise the profile of blindness as a major public health issue through our advocacy efforts and build support for eye health programs in Cambodia.

Program staff and partners will continue to identify and build relationships at international, national and local levels with various eye health actors to strengthen the support for PBL, disseminate program results to a wider audience and to identify opportunities for further collaboration.

The Foundation's Cambodia program receives funding support from the Australian public through The Foundation's fundraising efforts in Australia and the Australian Government's agency for International Development (AusAID).
