Accelerating efforts towards Gender Equality to achieve Universal Health Coverage
Monday 18 March 1445 - 1615: An In-Person Event at UN Church Centre, 10th Floor, 777 United Nations Plaza, New York Accelerating gender equality is a key component in achieving universal health coverage around the world. Gender inequalities can manifest in various ways within healthcare systems, affecting access to services, health outcomes, and overall well-being. This event co-hosted by The Fred Hollows Foundation and The International Transplant Nurses Society will explore the barriers, such as geographic, economic, and social factors, that may disproportionately affect women's access to healthcare, specifically eye health care and organ transplantation. Both eye health care and organ transplantation are gendered health issues and this event will use them as case studies to explore why gender equality must be accelerated to achieve universal health coverage.
