Eye surgeons receive advanced training in Small Incision Cataract Surgery techniques.

Four surgeons received the advanced training, which will improve their ability to complete an affordable, less intrusive and more effective form of cataract surgery.

Eighty-six patients with cataract have already benefitted from this training, having their sight restored over the four day training period. The training course will be followed by three ongoing surgical development eye camps in September and October.

The Fred Hollows Foundation began SICS training in China in 2005. Since then, 22 doctors have been upgraded to this surgical technique.
