Peter Carrette is a long time and dedicated supporter of The Fred Hollows Foundation.
As an internationally renowned photographer, Peter has been working in different fields of photography for more than 40 years. “I've always been a photographer – born with a lens in hand.”
Peter has worked on a vast variety of photography projects, from media pictures to portraits and fashion photography. He recently covered wedding of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban for the international media.
In 2001, Peter made a trip to The Foundation's program in Cambodia, where he took a series of moving photographs, which captured the patient's journey from being cataract blind to being able to see again.
Moen Som from Cambodia's Kampong Thom Province was one of those patients captured by Peter. Moen Som is old but she doesn't know how old. Before cataract surgery, she was fearful of travelling to Kampong Thom Provincial Hospital as it was leading her to an unknown fate.
During surgery, Moen Som had her cataract replaced with an intraocular lens and after surgery, she had her eye patch removed and was able to see again.

She stood up and moved surely through the doorway into the hall. If she had tried that before her surgery she would have just walked into the wall. It was clear that she had new confidence and the ability to get on with her life.
Moen Som's images were featured in The Fred Hollows Foundation's Miracle Club campaigns for many years.
Peter has also taken photographs at various donor and corporate events hosted by The Foundation.
We would like to extend a thank you to Peter for all of his support.
