WHO Plan: Prevention of avoidable blindness and visual impairment
The World Health Organisation has released a draft action plan that aims to expand efforts in preventing blindness and visual impairment by developing comprehensive eye-health programmes at national and subnational levels. According to the latest WHO estimates, about 314 million people worldwide live with visual impairment due to either eye diseases or uncorrected refractive errors. Of these, 45 million are blind, of whom 90% live in low-income countries. Find out more

World Sight Day 2008: Report
Featuring The Foundation's work in China, this report was put together for World Sight Day 2008 by VISION 2020 and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). Called Eyes on the Future: Fighting vision impairment in later life, the report highlights an international selection of VISION 2020 programmes addressing eye health in older people. Find out more
