Fundraising and helping others seems to be something that Rory McKenzie of Lockhart, NSW, just can’t stop doing!

Rory is one of The Foundation's longest standing youth fundraisers. Since 2005, he has been conducting a range of activites to raise awareness of and funds for our work.

In 2005, Rory successfully raised funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation by holding a raffle comprised of items that he had asked local businesses to donate.

One year later, 13 year old Rory, who attends Lockhart Central School, organized another fundraising event, this time a soccer competition where friends and family paid to participate. Once again, a generous donation was made to The Foundation by Rory.

In 2006, Rory was honoured to recieve the Keep Australia Beautiful, Tidy Towns Raine & Horne "Young Legends" Award.

The Raine & Horne Young Legends Award recognises young achievers in our communities who have made significant contributions to community life and environmental improvements. Nominated by the local Tidy Town committee, Rory was presented with this award in Singleton on 4th November 2006.

In 2007, Rory and a companion cycled from his hometown of Lockhart to 'The Rock', a distance of 42km, in one hour. Their expedition, called Cycle for Sight, resulted in yet another donation to The Foundation.

The Fred Hollows Foundation would like to thank Rory for his continued and oustanding contribution. Rory is definitely keeping Fred's dream alive!
