Where We Work

The Foundation works in over 19 countries worldwide and has helped restore the sight of well over one million people.

African region

We work with local partners in Eritrea, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa and Tanzania and are actively exploring opportunities to contribute in other countries.

Our current programs focus on comprehensive eye health systems with a particular emphasis on the development of human resources and infrastructure at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

 

South Asia

We work with local partners in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka and are actively exploring opportunities to contribute in other countries.

Our current programs focus on comprehensive eye health systems with a particular emphasis on the development of human resources and infrastructure at local, district or provincial and national levels.

 

South East Asia

We work with local partners in Cambodia, China, Lao PDR*, Myanmar (Burma)~, North Korea~, Tibet~ and Vietnam and are actively exploring opportunities to contribute in other countries.

Our current programs focus on comprehensive eye health systems with a particular emphasis on the development of human resources and infrastructure at local, district or provincial and national levels.

 

Australia

Working in partnership with local communities and Indigenous organisations, our current programs focus on nutrition, eye health, literacy, women's development, aural health and building governance capacity. We also play an advocacy role on the national stage in relation to the general and eye health needs of Indigenous people, especially those living in remote regions.

Currently we have programs in Alice Springs, NT, Katherine East, NT, Katherine West, NT, and Wilcannia, NSW.

 

Where We Have Worked Before

The Fred Hollows Foundation has previously worked in Botswana, Bougainville, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Lesotho, Malawi, Swaziland, Thailand, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

 

 

* The program is in the design stage. We hope implementation will commence in early 2008
