Indigenous Literacy Project
Exciting changes in 2011
For the past five years, The Fred Hollows Foundation has worked in partnership with The Indigenous Literacy Project (ILP), a national book industry initiative raising funds to address the crisis in literacy in remote Indigenous communities.
In 2011, The Indigenous Literacy Project became an independent Foundation with its own charitable status.
It will work with many partners and non-government organisations to help meet the challenges ahead and to continue to raise funds to deliver books and other literacy resources to remote Indigenous communitites across Australia.
Since 2006, more than $1.5 million has been raised through The Fred Hollows Foundation's partnership with The Indigenous Literacy Project. During that period the project grew enormously in scope and size and we have worked together to achieve some outstanding results.
The Foundation is proud to have assisted The Indigenous Literacy Project in reaching this new level of maturity and extends its goodwill and support to the new Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
