Foundation saddened by passing of ABC newsmen

The Hollows family, along with staff from The Fred Hollows Foundation, are shocked and saddened by the passing of three ABC staff members, Paul Lockyer, John Bean and Gary Ticehurst.

Paul Lockyer in particular had a close connection with The Foundation having travelled to Eritrea with Gabi Hollows and her children in 1994 to cover  the story of the opening of The Foundation’s first Intraocular lens laboratory for Channel Nine’s Sunday Program. Gabi remembers this time with Paul fondly and on behalf of everyone at The Foundation, wishes to pass on her sympathy to Paul’s family, and to the families of John and Gary.

The Foundation also wishes to pass on our condolences to our friends at Channel Nine and the ABC, who are obviously grieving this great loss today.

What we can do

Help keep Fred’s dream alive.

3 out of 4 people who are blind in the developing world don't need to be. Routine treatment costing as little as $25 can restore sight and hope.
