World Sight Day 2010 - China

The Fred Hollows Foundation’s China team has much to celebrate with our main partners, the Jiangxi Provincial Government, on World Sight Day.

In 2010, the Jiangxi Provincial Government concluded a one year initiative which supported more than 160,000 free cataract surgeries.

The Provincial government will continue to provide free surgeries - a huge benefit for people living in regions where the cost of surgery is often higher than a year’s wage.

More than eight hospitals will participate in the celebrations in Nanchang City.

World Sight Day will also mark the start of the Seeing Is Believing Phase IV Project in Jiangxi Province. The Foundation is also supporting eye projects across China, from Shanghai to Inner Mongolia.

What we can do

Help keep Fred’s dream alive.

3 out of 4 people who are blind in the developing world don't need to be. Routine treatment costing as little as $25 can restore sight and hope.
